Though you can take some kind of CMS, like Wordpress, and edit it. However, sometimes you want your site to be as 'lean' as possible. CMSs usually have a lot of overhead. It all depends on what kind of site you want. I wouldn't build a blog from scratch. However, something original, like www.devlisting.com, was build hand coded. Yes, I think it’s about control. I have read so much over the last few months and it all leaves me reeling. I have a small site with freewebs.com as I didn't really know what else to do. (I'm of that generation!!) After reading this feel I understand a lot clearer. Can you tell me one thing. Why is it then that people want to learn how to build a site using code?
